It’s a complete honor to be the lucky one to photograph it all. Sweetening the deal even more is the fact that we made a trade; I photograph his wedding and he DJs my wedding. You’re engaged you ask? No, no plans to marry any time soon but I can not wait for Luke to DJ my wedding! Aside from being one of the Bay Area’s top DJs, Luke is a great friend, hilarious, creative, funky, and so much fun to be around. Michele is a bundle of beautiful, sweet, creative, amazingness herself and I am so crazy happy for the two of them. Their wedding was small, intimate, completely DIY, and filled with amazing DJs, so there was no shortage of good music. It took place at Wildwood Acres Resort in the canyons just outside of Oakland, California.

I’ve been the lucky beneficiary of many a DJ Platurn mix and now so are you! Click on the image below for a free download to the stellar mix that each of their guests received at their tables. FYI Luke is Icelandic and his real name is Illugi which is pronounced completely different than it looks. When he moved to California as a kid, he chose Luke (Skywalker, of course) to make things a little easier on himself and everyone else to get his name right.

Yes, Luke is very tall, and Michele’s aunt is very short!

It’s the ultimate fruition of all of our efforts to capture the beauty and essence of a wedding day. It tells the whole story, it’s beautiful, and you can hold it in your hand. I’ve mentioned this before but I’m pretty much in love with Finao, the coolest album company around. When you first delve into the Finao’s options for styles and covers it can be a bit overwhelming but ultimately you can make something different and appropriate for every couple. Naomi and Nicholas’ wedding touched me to the core. They had to take a hug break to ‘cry it out’ during the ceremony and her girlfriends gave her roses to make her bouquet as she walked down the aisle; a couple after my heart with their palpable love and originality. Their wedding was lovely, classic, and cool. Here is the original post of their images.

For my very first blog post I thought I’d start on a personal note with the wedding of one of my best friends, Monica. Equally as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, Monica is one of the most lovely, talented, and giving people I know. Monica spent years teaching children around the world and then came back to Mexico to help start and run the outstanding non-profit organization P.E.A.C.E. On top of that, she supplies all of our friends with her stunning jewelery from her company Lunachia. They pulled their whole wedding together on a very small budget. Monica made all of her decorations and her now-husband Chris, who is an amazing chef, handled the food with a little help from his friends. Doing their photography was very personal to me because all of my friends and family (and my dog pancho!) were there and my best girlie got hitched. These images are my gift to them.

Yours truly doubled over as a pedicurist/bridesmaid and painted those red toenails.
